چکیده
Watch a video of this article. Gallbladder (GB) lesions can be diagnosed using several imaging modalities; however, their definitive diagnosis remains challenging. Bile cytology demonstrates unsatisfactory accuracy for GB lesions.1, 2 To improve diagnostic ability, targeted biopsy under direct vision is desirable. Conversely, with the advancement cholangioscopy, has become possible, and bile duct improved.3-5 We report first case carcinoma cholangioscopy-guided biopsy. A 65-year-old man was referred to our hospital obstructive jaundice due common (CBD) stones, which appeared during cholecystitis treatment at referring hospital. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed 20-mm-diameter low-density area on liver bed around (Fig. 1a) cystic dilation in coronal image 1b). Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography numerous stones observed from CBD 1c). distinguish benign pericholecystic abscesses malignant carcinoma, transpapillary attempted after obtaining informed consent. Post-endoscopic sphincterotomy guidewire placed GB. cholangioscope caliber 3.3 mm (CHF-B290; Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) advanced into assistance 2a). maintain clear view, intraluminal cleaned saline injection without air insufflation. papillary lesion an irregular surface pattern noted fundus 2b), suspected tumor. Targeted biopsies were performed forceps (FB-44U-1; Olympus) 2c,d), resulting histological adenocarcinoma 2e Video S1). He then underwent surgical intervention, mass as invasion carcinoma. This procedure may feasible diagnosing selective cases dilated straight duct. Diagnostic accuracy of confocal microscopy imaging vs. punch biopsy for diagnosing and subtyping basal cell carcinoma
BACKGROUND In vivo reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is a promising non-invasive skin imaging technique that could facilitate early diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) instead of routine punch biopsies. However, the clinical value and utility of RCM vs. a punch biopsy in diagnosing and subtyping BCC is unknown. OBJECTIVE To assess diagnostic accuracy of RCM vs. punch biopsy for diagno...
متن کاملLigand-based targeted therapy: a novel strategy for hepatocellular carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer with high morbidity and mortality worldwide. Chemotherapy is recommended to patients with intermediate or advanced stage cancer. However, the conventional chemotherapy yields low desired response rates due to multidrug resistance, fast clearance rate, nonspecific delivery, severe side effects, low drug concentration in cance...
متن کاملTargeted therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma: novel agents on the horizon
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver cancer, accounting for 90% of primary liver cancers. In the last decade it has become one of the most frequently occurring tumors worldwide and is also considered to be the most lethal of the cancer systems, accounting for approximately one third of all malignancies. Although the clinical diagnosis and management of early-stage HCC has imp...
متن کاملBiomarkers for novel targeted therapies of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Increasing insights into molecular alterations of signalling pathways have led to the development of specific targeted therapies for cancer. Due to the high specificity of monoclonal antibodies or small molecule inhibitors, identification of patients who will benefit from these therapeutics is crucial for treatment success. Furthermore, as classical endpoints of clinical trials are not fully ap...
متن کاملMRI-targeted biopsy: is systematic biopsy obsolete?
INTRODUCTION Although prostate cancer is the most common non-cutaneous cancer in men, it is traditionally diagnosed with a non-targeted, systematic transrectal ultrasound prostate biopsy (TRUS-Bx). This technique has been demonstrated to both under-detect clinically significant (CS) cancer and over-detect clinically insignificant cancer, and performs poorly in patients with a prior negative bio...
